Plastic bag surface defect detection

Introduction

This case study introduces the plastic bag surface defect detection using the VisionBank intelligent vision system.

Project Challenges

The following cases are tested: Crystalised dots, black dots, swaying edges, holes, scratches, asymmetry of left and right sealing edges

The Solution

The  surface of the plastic bag is highly reflective. When placed on a white background, edge sealing, crystalised dots, and scratch defects cannot be detected. Therefore, three stations are used for testing separately

 

Station 1: Plastic belt surface defect detection, black spots and asymmetry of left and right sealing edges. The black spot defects in the plastic-sealed bag are photographed, and the width calculation is used to detect defective products with different widths on the opposite sides.

 

Station 2: Plastic tape surface defect detection edge banding and wrinkle polishing to photograph the three edges of plastic-sealed bags to detect whether there are wrinkles or edge-sealing scratches.

 

Station 3: Take three consecutive shots of the plastic-sealed bag, check whether there are crystal spots in these parts. If there is one, it is a defective product.
